A lot of people buy their lottery tickets from one lotto retailer. They keep buying from the same store. Often, they will tell the retailer that if they win the jackpot, they will come back and give him a tip. Do you do this? Are you the type of person that would come back and give the lotto retailer a tip if you won big? How much would you give? David Lyons is the latest Iowa Powerball Power Play winner. He won $1 million. He bought his winning ticket at the Short Stop store in Ankeny, Iowa (Just outside of Des Moines), where he usually buys his tickets. That was for a Powerball drawing in late March. However, he didn't claim his prize until early April.

In the few days that it took him to claim his prize, the rumor mill in Ankeny, Iowa went off the charts. The store knew that they had sold the winning million dollar ticket and correctly figured out that it was David that had bought it. They told someone and that someone told someone else until everybody was talking about it. It's hard to keep a secret like winning a million dollars!

David Lyons was actually a big-time lottery player. He normally bought over $50 worth of tickets every week. That's a lot of money to be spending on lottery tickets. But, alas, his big payoff finally came!

At the time of his win, David Lyons was 60-years-old and working the night-shift at Wal-Mart, where his job was to stock shelves. He said that he would remain working at Wal-Mart, at least for the time-being.

Robert Boehm Puts Winning Lottery Ticket In An Envelope Marked As Such

When you win the lottery, what are you going to do with the winning ticket? My guess is that you will hide it until you go to claim your prize; you definitely won't advertise to the world that you're a big winner until you get your prize, right?

That's why I had a good laugh when I heard what Robert Boehm did with his winning ticket. He put it in an envelope marked "WINNING LOTTERY TICKET." Funny! He probably should have also bought a t-shirt that read, "Lottery Winner." Maybe he could have even put a "Lottery Winner" sticker on the back windshield of his car. That way, everybody would know!

Robert Boehm won $1 million in Mega Millions in April of 2010 by matching the first five numbers. Normally, that would win a prize of $250,000. But Robert spent an extra dollar when he purchased his ticket to pay for the Megaplier option, which turned the $250,000 into $1 million.

Another funny part of Robert Boehm's story is when he found out that he was a winner. He gave his Mega Millions tickets to a store clerk to have them checked. When she checked them, she told him that they don't have enough money to pay out his prize (Obviously, because it was a million dollars). She then asked him to guess how much he won. Robert figured that it was a few thousand dollars. Boy, was he ever off on his estimate! Robert was off by almost a million dollars!

At the time of his win, Robert Boehm was 60-years-old and living in Denison, Iowa. He worked a job that required him to work long hours hauling fertilizer.

Beverly Bowman Splits Lottery Jackpot With Sister Tammy Taylor

Here is my rule if you win the lottery - If you win a big enough jackpot, you need to give at least one close friend or family member enough to retire. Why? Because if everybody around you has to work, you won't have anybody to do things with, like travel.

It seems that Beverly Bowman subscribes to my rule. She won a $2.9 million lottery jackpot from Washington's Lottery. She split the jackpot, down the middle, with her sister, Tammy Taylor. Now, the sisters plan to travel; they plan to take a cruise together with their families. See, that's the way to do it!

Beverly Bowman found out that she won the jackpot while at the store, when she asked the clerk to print out the lotto numbers. One-by-one, she checked the numbers and, one-by-one, they all matched. She started getting excited and that's when the clerk advised her to sign the ticket. She did that, then walked away to leave the store, ticket in hand. That's when the clerk yelled, "Stop! Put that ticket away!" He was right - She shouldn't be walking around with $2.9 million in her hand. So Beverly put the ticket away in her purse.

After the store, Beverly went right over to Tammy's house. Immediately, upon entering, she asked her for a dollar. That was odd, but Tammy gave it to her anyways. That's when Beverly told her sister that she had just bought herself a share of the jackpot that she just won! Nice!

At the time of their win, Beverly Bowman and Tammy Taylor lived in Federal Way, Washington, which is just outside of Seattle. Aside from the cruise, both plan to use the money to pay off bills and Beverly also plans to buy a new car.

Albert Mohrbacher Jr Spent Too Much Money On Lottery Tickets

Do you keep spending money on lottery tickets but never win big? Many of us do. So did Albert Mohrbacher Jr (Pictured here with his wife). He used to play all of the games that Wisconsin Lottery had to offer. That included Powerball, Mega Millions, MegaBucks, SuperCash and Badger 5. But he spent too much money buying tickets. Albert Mohrbacher Jr kept on buying MegaBucks tickets. Then, one day, in March of 2010, he was in the washroom getting ready for church. This is how he described it: "I was up in the bathroom and I heard footsteps coming up the steps and thought, 'Good, (my wife is) bringing me some coffee' - which she usually does. That's when she told him that they won the lottery!

So Albert stops buying lottery tickets, except for one game, and he finally wins. He spent just $2 on the draw that he won. He won a total of $7.5 million. It just goes to show, you don't need to buy a lot of tickets to win!

At the time of his win, Albert Mohrbacher Jr was in his 60's, retired, and living in Racine Wisconsin with his wife. He said that he planned to use the money to buy a bigger house and, maybe, a new boat.

Biggest Israel Lotto Winners Ever - Identities Hidden

About four months ago, the biggest Israel Lotto jackpot ever was won. The winning ticket was worth 74 million ILS. That works out to $20,029,780 USD. However, nobody stepped forward to claim the prize... Until today, that is.

The winners of Israel Lotto came forward to claim their prize on April 13, 2010. They are pictured here. However, their identities were hidden. They were wearing masks and their names were not released to the public. In North America (and in the UK), we are used to having the names and pictures of lottery winners released. However, in other parts of the world, privacy is important and that's usually because of safety concerns. Just check out this Jamaican lottery winner, for example; he was wearing a disguise too.

Why did it take so long for this couple to claim the Israel lotto jackpot? They didn't even know that they had won. The lotto ticket was stashed at the bottom of a pile of papers. Finally, they got around to checking it and realized that they had matched all of the numbers.

Joanne Tsetta - Edmonton Lotto 649 Winner

The March 20, 2010 Lotto 649 jackpot was estimated to be $41 million. By the time ticket sales were counted, the jackpot slightly exceeded the $41 million estimate. There were two winning tickets sold for that draw, each worth $20,664,574. The first ticket holder wasted no time claiming her prize. That ticket holder was Bonnie Preece, a woman from London, Ontario, who claimed her prize on the first business day following the draw. The second ticket holder waited until April 1st to claim her prize. That ticket holder was a woman named Joanne Tsetta, from Edmonton, Alberta.

Joanne Tsetta seemed nonchalant about winning so much money. In fact, before she even claimed her prize, an unidentified woman witnessed her checking the ticket at the retailer. The retailer scanned the ticket and told Joanne that it looked like she won $2 million. The unidentified woman had a look at the printout and corrected the retailer. She told her that she had, in fact, actually won over $20 million. Joanne's response to that news was, "Oh, OK." She stood there for a few moments and then just left the store. There was absolutely no emotion or excitement in her.

At the time of her win, Joanne Tsetta was 40-years-old and living in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She was in school, studying to earn her grade 12 diploma.

Joanne Tsetta said that she planned to use the money to pay off some bills, buy a new car, and pay for her kids' education. Beyond that, she just wants to spend some time with her family and "go with the flow."

Illinois Lottery has a pretty cool game called "Little Lotto." It's cool because the odds of winning the jackpot in the game are quite decent. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are approximately 1-in-175-million. That's Dane Colby in the picture with his wife, Julie, getting a ceremonial check for $20 million. They beat the odds to win the Mega Millions jackpot!

Dane and Julie Colby won the March 12, 2010 Mega Millions jackpot of $20 million. They waited about a month before going in to claim their prize, which they finally did on April 13. Now they are $20 million richer, but that won't change their lifestyles much.

Dane and Julie don't want much to change, at least in the beginning. They plan on living in the same house in Hennepin, Illinois (Which is just outside of Chicago) and plan to continue to work. They don't want the money to change how they live, although they admit that it eventually will. However, what they really want is the money to be a legacy for their family, especially their children's long-term welfare. So, they plan on investing most of the money.

So there you have it, the couple win a big prize and nothing much will change in their lives. There are no plans on big purchases. They do plan on taking the kids to Disney World; however, that trip was planned before they even won the lottery.

These folks are not like typical lottery winners. Most new winners plan at least one big purchase, like a new car or a new house, but not Dane and Julie Colby. At least they seem like level-headed people that won't end up squandering their new fortune!

He actually won a lot of money, literally accidentally because he didn't even intend to play the lottery that day. In fact, Brad says that he is only a casual lottery player.

The Win For Life game that Brad Forbes won on has a top prize of $1000 a week for life. The second prize is $52,000. Both of Brad's tickets actually won the second prize. That means that he won $104,000 in total. Unbelievable!

I don't know why Jeong-Jong Joe immigrated to Vancouver from his native Korea, but I assume a better quality of life was part of the equation. Dino Ditosto - Calgary Extra Winner Feels Numb

Rich Koenigsfeld Is A Nervous Wreck After Winning $1 Million In Lottery
