Jennifer Sabia and her husband, Joe, live in Naugatuck, Connecticut. Retirement is in their near future and they plan to build a house in Vermont, where they would spend their retirement years. However, building that house was still a while away.

That lottery money is what changed her dreams about building the house in Vermont; she and her husband will now be able to do it sooner rather than later!

Jennifer Sabia believes that everything happens for a reason. The day she won the lottery, she was on her way to do some grocery shopping. While on her way to the grocery store, she realized that she forgot her check-book. So she went back home to get it. While heading home, she stopped at the 7-11 to pick up a lottery ticket. That's when she won the $200,000. If she did not forget her check-book that day, she would not have won the lottery. That was the reason that she forgot her check-book that day - She was destined to win the lottery!

Robert and Susan McIntosh love their Akita Dogs. They love them so much that they enter them into shows. They actually have a puppy that has won the "Best In Show" prize. And, with all the excitement surrounding the lottery win, Robert totally forgot to buy her a birthday present. Robert Boehm Puts Winning Lottery Ticket In An Envelope Marked As Such

When you win the lottery, what are you going to do with the winning ticket? My guess is that you will hide it until you go to claim your prize; you definitely won't advertise to the world that you're a big winner until you get your prize, right?

That's why I had a good laugh when I heard what Robert Boehm did with his winning ticket. He put it in an envelope marked "WINNING LOTTERY TICKET." Funny! He probably should have also bought a t-shirt that read, "Lottery Winner." Maybe he could have even put a "Lottery Winner" sticker on the back windshield of his car. That way, everybody would know!

Robert Boehm won $1 million in Mega Millions in April of 2010 by matching the first five numbers. Normally, that would win a prize of $250,000. But Robert spent an extra dollar when he purchased his ticket to pay for the Megaplier option, which turned the $250,000 into $1 million.

Another funny part of Robert Boehm's story is when he found out that he was a winner. He gave his Mega Millions tickets to a store clerk to have them checked. When she checked them, she told him that they don't have enough money to pay out his prize (Obviously, because it was a million dollars). She then asked him to guess how much he won. Robert figured that it was a few thousand dollars. Boy, was he ever off on his estimate! Robert was off by almost a million dollars!

At the time of his win, Robert Boehm was 60-years-old and living in Denison, Iowa. He worked a job that required him to work long hours hauling fertilizer.

Marquis Mitchell found out that he won when he called Georgia Lottery's hotline to check his numbers. They all matched and he could not believe it. So he double-checked them online. Sure enough, he was a big winner. That's when he woke up his sleeping wife to tell her the good news: "I was so happy, I woke my wife up. She jumped out of bed and started running around. I had to calm her down!"

At the time of his win, Marquis was 59-year-old and living in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife, Ida. The couple have three adult children and six grandchildren. Marquis said that he planned to use the money to pay off some bills and to buy a new fishing boat.

Beverly Bowman Splits Lottery Jackpot With Sister Tammy Taylor

Here is my rule if you win the lottery - If you win a big enough jackpot, you need to give at least one close friend or family member enough to retire. Why? Because if everybody around you has to work, you won't have anybody to do things with, like travel.

It seems that Beverly Bowman subscribes to my rule. She won a $2.9 million lottery jackpot from Washington's Lottery. She split the jackpot, down the middle, with her sister, Tammy Taylor. Now, the sisters plan to travel; they plan to take a cruise together with their families. See, that's the way to do it!

Beverly Bowman found out that she won the jackpot while at the store, when she asked the clerk to print out the lotto numbers. One-by-one, she checked the numbers and, one-by-one, they all matched. She started getting excited and that's when the clerk advised her to sign the ticket. She did that, then walked away to leave the store, ticket in hand. That's when the clerk yelled, "Stop! Put that ticket away!" He was right - She shouldn't be walking around with $2.9 million in her hand. So Beverly put the ticket away in her purse.

After the store, Beverly went right over to Tammy's house. Immediately, upon entering, she asked her for a dollar. That was odd, but Tammy gave it to her anyways. That's when Beverly told her sister that she had just bought herself a share of the jackpot that she just won! Nice!

At the time of their win, Beverly Bowman and Tammy Taylor lived in Federal Way, Washington, which is just outside of Seattle. Aside from the cruise, both plan to use the money to pay off bills and Beverly also plans to buy a new car.

Albert Mohrbacher Jr Spent Too Much Money On Lottery Tickets

Do you keep spending money on lottery tickets but never win big? Many of us do. So did Albert Mohrbacher Jr (Pictured here with his wife). He used to play all of the games that Wisconsin Lottery had to offer. That included Powerball, Mega Millions, MegaBucks, SuperCash and Badger 5. But he spent too much money buying tickets. So he stopped. He stopped buying all games except for MegaBucks.

Albert Mohrbacher Jr kept on buying MegaBucks tickets. Then, one day, in March of 2010, he was in the washroom getting ready for church. That's when his wife, who checked the tickets, gave him some news. This is how he described it: "I was up in the bathroom and I heard footsteps coming up the steps and thought, 'Good, (my wife is) bringing me some coffee' - which she usually does. And I hear her tapping on the door and she slowly pushes it open. And then she opened the door and there's tears running down her face as she's standing there." That's when she told him that they won the lottery!

So Albert stops buying lottery tickets, except for one game, and he finally wins. He spent just $2 on the draw that he won. He won a total of $7.5 million. It just goes to show, you don't need to buy a lot of tickets to win!

At the time of his win, Albert Mohrbacher Jr was in his 60's, retired, and living in Racine Wisconsin with his wife. He said that he planned to use the money to buy a bigger house and, maybe, a new boat.

Rich Koenigsfeld Is A Nervous Wreck After Winning $1 Million In Lottery

Rich Koenigsfeld won $1 million in the lottery. When asked he he felt about that, he replied that he was a nervous wreck. Ya, winning the lottery could do that to you!

At his press conference at Iowa Lottery's headquarters to announce him as the winner, Rich Koenigsfeld brought a picture of his family. That's because he's had a string of personal losses. His wife, Dian, was diagnosed with cancer in October of 2009. Soon after, the family had a get-together as a show of support for Dian. Three days after the get-together, Rich's son died in a construction accident. This was devastating to the entire family. His son's wife was also pregnant at the time. That's when Dian set a goal to stay alive long enough to see her grand-daughter be born. Unfortunately, she never made it; she passed away about a month ago.

In April of 2010, as a tribute to his wife, Rich spent an entire day planting his Dian's favorite flowers. They were together spiritually that day. After a long day's work, Rich decided to try his luck at the casino. He won some money. He won $325. He used some of those winnings to buy to instant scratch lottery tickets. One of those two tickets was a winner. Rich won $1 million. Rich believes that his wife had something to do with him winning the money.

It's a great day when you win the lottery. However, no money could ever replace the tragic losses that Rich Koenigsfeld had recently had to endure.

What does Rich plan to do with all of the money that he won? "As far as my winnings go, it's nice, but I'm not an extravagant spender. I'll never be an extravagant spender. I do plan on going to Germany with my brother. My kids will get a nice Christmas present this year."
